From May 22–24, 2025, the 158th edition of the Audio Engineering Society scientific convention took place at ATM Studios in Warsaw (https://aes2.org/events-calendar/2025-aes-european-convention-warsaw/ and photos from the Convention: Audio Engineering Society | Flickr). Around 500 participants from around the world exchanged knowledge and experiences in all areas related to the audio world.

The Department of Multimedia Systems took an active part in the event. Prof. Kostek (Co-Chair of the Convention) and Dr. Mróz (Student Volunteer Chair) were involved as co-organizers of the conference, while numerous students (20 people) from the Sound and Image Engineering Student Research Group supported the organization as volunteers, supervised by Mr. Szymon Zaporowski (Student Volunteer Coordinator).

The students presented two co-authored posters from student research project groups:

  1. D. Singh, T. Kenneth, M. Koniarek, T. Ahmed, M. Zielonka: “A Testbed for Detecting DeepFake Audio”
  2. M. Zarudzka, C. Zasada, P. Krzyżanowski, K. Muszyński, M. Trocha: “G.A.D.A.: Guitar Audio Dataset for AI – An Open-Source Multi-Class Guitar Corpus”

under the supervision of Prof. A. Czyżewski and Mr. Szymon Zaporowski.

As part of the AES Student Project Expo (https://aeseurope.com/student-project-expo/), as many as five student projects from Gdańsk University of Technology were submitted to the “In the recognition of excellence” competition.

Three top projects were awarded, including two from the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics (ETI):

  • Software-based Guitar Multi-Effect by Mr. Michał Soja
  • AmbiScopeVFX – Ambisonic Visualizer for 360° Video in DaVinci Resolve by Mr. Filip Lewiński
